Bottesford – Neighbourhood Policing Update:
Residents may notice an increased police presence in and around Bottesford following ongoing reports of anti‑social behaviour and criminality within the village.
A structured Problem Management Plan (PMP) that I have put together is now in place to address these issues. This is an evidence‑led approach used to identify recurring problems, those responsible, and the most effective actions to reduce harm and prevent escalation. We are working closely with partner agencies, including the local school and council, as part of this process.
A number of offences have already been identified and are being progressed, supported by evidence including CCTV and social media footage from multiple sources. Enquiries are ongoing.
Further officers have been assigned and will be carrying out targeted patrols across key areas of the village over the coming weeks. Where anti‑social behaviour or criminality is identified, proportionate and robust action will be taken. This includes appropriate follow‑up action away from the immediate area and engagement with parents or guardians where young people are involved.
Part of effective problem solving also involves engagement with those who are causing harm, challenging behaviour directly, and breaking down barriers where appropriate. Policing is not solely about enforcement. For those who may have seen officers engaging informally with younger people in the village recently, this formed part of a deliberate approach to open dialogue, reduce tension, reinforce expectations around behaviour, and support longer‑term change alongside firm enforcement.
Parents and carers are encouraged to take an active interest in where their children are spending time, who they are associating with, and how they are behaving when out in the community. For those under 18, parental responsibility remains an important factor, and early engagement can help prevent issues escalating further.
Our priority is to reduce harm, improve community confidence, and ensure Bottesford remains a safe and welcoming place for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Please continue to report any concerns to police, as information from the community directly supports the action being taken.
PC 4252 Dan Daley - Melton Rural North Neighbourhood Police Officer.
